Terms and Conditions
In the majority of cases separate booking forms will be required from all adults. If you are booking on behalf of a group please make the individuals aware of these terms and conditions.
1. Fees
A 50% deposit is required to confirm all bookings.
The balance of the course fee must be received 4 weeks prior to the commencement of the course. In the event that the balance is not paid Mark Walker will have the discretion to treat the booking as cancelled by the client.
If a booking is made within 4 weeks of the commencement of the course, the whole course fee is required at the time of booking.
The course fee is for the dates agreed with Mark Walker specified in email correspondence. It is not normally possible to amend these dates once the booking is confirmed and deposit paid.
2. Cancellation by the client
All cancellations must be in writing/ email.
If a cancellation is made prior to 8 weeks before the commencement of the course 80% of fees paid will be refunded. Any costs incurred by Mark Walker will also be debited from the refund.
If a cancellation is made between 8 to 4 weeks before the commencement of the course 50% of fees paid will be refunded. Any costs incurred by Mark Walker will also be debited from the refund.
If a cancellation is made within 4 weeks of the commencement of the course, no refund will be made.
3. Cancellation by Mark Walker
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all courses run, there may be occasions when Mark Walker has to cancel. In this event Mark Walker will obviously notify the client as soon as possible. Clients will then be given a choice of either a full refund of fees paid or a course on different dates.
If Mark Walker has to cancel a course he is not responsible for any other financial loss incurred by the client other than the course fee. Your insurance should sort this out.
Mark Walker reserves the right to exclude any member from a participation on planned mountain activities if he or she might endanger the success or safety of the rest of the party through lack of fitness, ill-health, poor acclimatisation or dangerous technique. No refunds of fees will be paid.
Every effort will be made to ensure planned itineraries are fulfilled. Weather, mountain conditions and other circumstances may cause them to be changed at short notice.
4. Your data
Unless you request otherwise Mark Walker reserves the right to retain contact and medical details for 3 years from the time of booking.
Unless you request otherwise Mark walker reserves the right to use images taken during activities for marketing and social media. You are welcome to request posts are removed at anytime.
5. Insurance and loss
It is your responsibility to ensure you are adequately insured for personal accident, cancellation, third party liability and personal injury. On alpine mountaineering courses you must have cover for the use of mountain guides, roped climbing and travel in glaciated areas. For ski courses the insurance needs to cover you for guided off piste skiing and ski mountaineering/ touring.
Mark Walker accepts no responsibility whatsoever in respect of loss or damage to personal property. Good insurers include BMC and Snowcard.
Safety and participation statement
Climbing and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. By booking a course in these activities you are aware of and accept these risks, and will be responsible for your own actions and involvement. Mark Walker Mountaineering will teach you how to manage these risks but we can never completely remove them. You confirm that you are familiar with the nature of the activities that you wish to undertake and acknowledge those risks that are inherent therein and that you may freely withdraw from any activity and there is no pressure whatsoever to take part.
